"Resting on Infinity" Sarah Hatch © 1999 Mixed media and acrylic painting 30" x 72" Original Artwork: $3,500 The boy with the gun has fallen from grace. His halo reminds us that he is like us -- each one of us has the potential for good or evil. There is an angel on his shoulder, trying to lure the gun away, but the boy has closed up his ears and no longer hears. He is crying a bloody tear from his eye, and a giant dark tear from his body. He has become a prince of darkness. He wants to take the girl with him. She is pure and innocent, and represents healing and peace, with her white bird and golden tears. She has let go of the bowl that carries all her heart's desires -- her future -- and she is resting on whatever infinity holds for her. The golden angel is a symbol of rebirth -- praying and looking directly into us. Willing us. Calling us to pay attention. At her feet, wine and wafers await our transformation. |
