Born in Manitowoc, WI. Began interest in art at early age by tracing cartoons, later turned to photography and drawing. And, at age 16, started painting. At 18 was invited to hold a one-person show with ink and watercolour drawings.

Primarily self-taught. Also took non-credit courses at the Atlanta School of Art, Oglethorpe University, and the Portfolio Center.
